Katy Perry has taken a strong stand in of immigrants, using her platform to shed light on the ongoing injustices faced by migrant communities. On Tuesday night, the pop star turned to Instagram stories to highlight Los Angeles' deep Mexican roots and voice her disapproval of ICE raids targeting immigrant families. One of the posts she shared described these actions as a "huge injustice" against communities that have lived in the U.S. for generations.

"This was once Mexican land, and the people being targeted today are often descendants of those who have lived here for generations - or who came seeking safety, work, and dignity," read one of the posts Perry shared. The singer's reposts emphasized how L.A.'s history is intertwined with Mexican culture and labor, making the current treatment of migrants all the more heartbreaking.

Another post shared by Perry drew attention to how Los Angeles has "seen borders shift" over time, yet its Indigenous and brown communities have always been integral to its foundation. "The people [here] - especially the brown and Indigenous people - have always been there, planting roots, building lives, raising families," it read. The post continued with a powerful statement: "And now in 2025, the descendants of those same communities are being hunted like criminals in their own ancestral home."

Perry's posts echo a growing sentiment among celebrities and activists who are taking a stand against President Donald Trump's ICE raids and deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Ivan Cornejo, and Finneas are among the other artists who have spoken out against these measures. Protests have erupted across the country, with demonstrators voicing their outrage over federal tactics that many consider inhumane and unjust.

Reports reveal that ICE agents have been arresting migrants at immigration hearings, targeting workplaces, and even detaining mothers holding their babies. Many have criticized these actions as violations of due process and human dignity. "It's more than infuriating - it's a deep injustice," read one of the posts shared by Perry. "How can a city built on Mexican labor, Mexican history, and Mexican culture turn around and criminalize the very people who shaped it?"

As protests continue nationwide, voices like Katy Perry's are amplifying the message that immigrant communities deserve dignity, respect, and justice.
