The Social Security istration (SSA) will begin on June 11, 2025, the distribution of monthly payments for millions of beneficiaries in the United States.
This first round of payments is for people born between the 1st and 10th of each month, including retirees, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries and survivor pensioners.
Payments on this date, according to the SSA, will average $1,999.97 for retirees, reflecting a slight increase from the average in January this year, which was $1,976. This adjustment is in response to the need to maintain purchasing power in the face of current economic challenges.
June payment schedule
The June payment schedule follows the usual pattern based on the beneficiaries' date of birth:
- Born between the 1st and the 10th: Wednesday, June 11
- Born between the 11th and 20th: Wednesday, June 18
- Born between the 21st and 31st: Wednesday, June 25
In addition, this first payment includes SSDI benefits for those who qualify for medical reasons and whose birthdays are in the same date range. In this case, beneficiaries receive an average monthly benefit of $1,581.88.
It should be noted that this schedule applies to those who began receiving their benefits after May 1997. Those who have been receiving them since before that date generally receive their payment on the third day of each month, unless it falls on a weekend or federal holiday.
Retirement and disability pensions
In addition to retirement and disability benefits, the Social Security istration also distributes other types of payments, such as those for survivors of deceased workers, which currently average $1,565.52 per month, and payments under the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, which average $717.87 per month, for people with low incomes and limited resources.
