- NFL. Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel have practically zero chance of starting for the Cleveland Browns
- NFL. Patrick Mahomes' biggest advantage difference over Tom Brady revealed in shocking video
The OTAs have ended, and the mandatory minicamp for the Cleveland Browns will begin tomorrow. Now, the battle between the four quarterbacks will intensify, and this is when we'll truly see who will earn the starting job. Currently, Joe Flacco has the edge due to his knowledge of the offense.
It's worth ing that Flacco was already with the team for part of the 2023 season. The veteran, who is entering his 18th season in the NFL, started the final five games with Cleveland, won four of them, lost only one, and posted fantastic stats-averaging 323.2 ing yards per game and throwing 13 touchdowns, leading the Browns to the playoffs.
Joe Flacco spent 2024 with the Indianapolis Colts and is now back with the Cleveland Browns-a team that is, frankly, in chaos. They have four quarterbacks fighting for the starting job, and there's a fifth-Deshaun Watson-who is injured and very unlikely to play again for Cleveland.
The competition will heat up at minicamp
The Cleveland Browns were the most followed team by fans and the media during the OTAs, with everyone tracking the quarterback situation. All eyes were especially on Shedeur Sanders, currently the most polarizing player in the NFL without a doubt.
Shedeur Sanders, who was selected in the fifth round of the recent Draft despite once being projected as a first-round pick, currently sits last in the Browns' quarterback depth chart. However, based on the numbers he put up in OTAs, he may start climbing the ranks.
In OTAs, Shedeur Sanders led all quarterbacks in touchdown es with six-but he was also the only one to throw an interception. Fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel also stood out, completing 22 of 36 es and throwing five touchdowns.
Among the veterans, Joe Flacco completed 13 of 21 es with one touchdown, while Kenny Pickett went 18 for 31 with two touchdowns. Now they head into competition at training camp.
Despite the strong numbers from Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has repeatedly said that nothing will be decided during OTAs, since quarterbacks typically face very little defensive pressure in those sessions.
Now, as the intensity of the practices increases, it will become clear who will be chosen to start. However, all signs currently point to Joe Flacco being the starter-at least for the beginning of the season.
